Professional Experience

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Mike Stork, owner of Reliable PC Techs. My background consists of over 20 years in the Information Technology sector. During those 20+ years I worked for Automatic Data Processing in a Technology / Sales Support role. I was responsible for customizing our products to suit individual clients needs.

Xerox 4050 laser printer that I leveraged to make Lake Shore Bank stand out!

I left ADP to join Lake Shore Bank in a Systems Analyst role. In that role I leveraged their existing systems and software tools to automate their Mainframe Operations functions, resulting in increased productivity and reduced staffing levels. In addition, I programmed a Mainframe attached Xerox 4050 laser printer to allow Lake Shore Bank to be one of the first small banks to produce high quality bank statements to their customers.

IBM 3174 Controller

In 1993, I joined St. Paul Federal Savings Bank as a Business Systems Analyst.  St. Paul recruited me to help them transition from a Mainframe environment to a distributed PC/LAN environment.  Networked PC's were just beginning to emerge at this time.  I had over 50 locations to link together in an effort to improve internal staff productivity and communications.  Gradually I built the infrastructure to link all of the regional locations.  Those links greatly benefited the Company in many ways.  Gone are the days of transferring email over dialup phone lines.  Gone are the days of leasing expensive IBM Mainframe 317x controllers!

Bulky IBM 3270 Terminal
Gone are the days of using these bulky Mainframe Terminals!   Let's reclaim our desk space!  I saved the Company thousands of dollars annually retiring these Terminals and their Controllers.  We retired over 70 leased controllers, replacing them with only 3 Networked PC's that were centrally located in the main Data Center.  Reduced complexity and the elimination of monthly equipment lease fees paid off handsomely.
The email program of choice in the early 90's.
cc:Mail is now delivered in seconds via high speed WAN links, as compared to every few hours, when it was sent via phone lines.

In 1995, I joined First Chicago Bank as a Network Analyst.  First Chicago Bank had been growing exponentially for many years.  That growth continued and created many opportunities for me to help them integrate and improve their PC/LAN network infrastructure.  My first area of focus was to standardize the existing data backup system.  I installed a product called Arcserve that greatly increased reliable data archival procedures.  Additionally, I instituted a Centralized data archival method for many of our smaller office locations.  Using high speed WAN links reduced the cost of the data backup process and achieved our need for off-site data storage, all without the need to manually send tape media from office to office.  Administration of the backup system was greatly simplified as well, since the accounting of over 300 backup tapes per day was reduced 70%!

Within my first year of joining First Chicago, I was promoted to District Manager.  In that role, I lead a team of Field Operations Technicians that were responsible for the support of the Network Servers and Desktop PC's that ultimately grew to over 200 locations and nearly 3000 clients.

Project Management was my main focal point.  Growth, mergers and acquisitions presented many challenging problems to solve.  We had many legacy systems to integrate in order to make new acquisitions a profitable endeavor.  I embraced change as First Chicago merged with NBD Bank in 1998.  That merger created an even larger organization where I spent the next two years integrating the NBD locations within the First Chicago technology space.  Planning, organization and teamwork resulted in a seamless integration of the NBD systems.

In 2001, the acquisition of First Chicago NBD by Banc One Corporation occurred.

2004 the JPMorgan Chase purchase of Bank One ushered in brand new systems integration activities.

In 2006, I decided to become a Business owner.  I embrace change and thrive on new challenges and opportunities.  The business experience I developed over my career is well suited to delivering technology solutions to you.
